The Gravity Model of Economic Interaction
نویسنده
چکیده
Newton’s physical law of gravity inspired the original gravity model of economic interaction over space. The intuition was that economic flows might plausibly vary with the masses of economic activity at origin and destination and inversely with the distance between origin and destination. Newton’s Law applied strictly predicts that the economic flow Xij from origin i to destination j is Xij = G YiEj D ij (1)

The impact of Economic and Geographic indicators in Trade in OIC Countries (Using Gravity Model)
Present paper is an attempt to estimate the impact of Economic and Geographic indicators in trade among Islamic countries according to a bilateral trade model as Gravity model, and study the relationship between Economy, Geography and Trade in this way. Fixed effect version of the panel data estimation producer with OIC member country data spanning over the 2007–2012. The result of this researc...
متن کاملOn the stability of equilibrium for a reformulated foreign trade model of three countries
In this paper, we study the stability of equilibrium for a foreign trade model consisting of three countries. As the gravity equation has been proven an excellent tool of analysis and adequately stable over time and space all over the world, we further enhance the problem to three masses. We use the basic Structure of Heckscher–Ohlin–Samuelson model. The national income equals consumption outla...

متن کاملTrade Potential of Turkey with Asia-Pacific Countries: Evidence from Panel Gravity Model
As a result of recent developments, global economic centre of gravity has slide to Asia-Pacific region. It is predicted that Asia-Pacific countries will take place at the first row in global trade and nearly a half of the total trade will intensify in this region at the year 2030. On the other hand, the region covers countries from different levels of development. These features of the region p...
متن کاملAn Estimation of The Impact of Economic Sanctions and Oil Price Shocks on Iran-Russian Trade: Evidence from a Gravity- VEC Approach
Abstract This article is an empirical attempt to explore the relationship between sanctions (financial and non-financial), oil price shocks and Iran-Russian bilateral trade flows over the period 1991–2014. In contrast to earlier studies in which a gravity model has been estimated through a panel data approach, in this paper the authors apply a gravity model for only two countries and do the es...
